Zycus discusses the next generation of sourcing technologies

RINCETON, N.J. February 22, 2012 – Zycus, a global leader in Procurement Performance solutions announced today that it is collaborating with the Institute for Supply Management (ISM) to host an interactive webinar titled – “Leaving Reverse Auctions in the Dust: Discovering a Next Generation of Sourcing Technologies” which will be broadcasted on February 28, 2012 at 2.00 p.m. ET. Jason Busch, Editor -SpendMatters.com, Managing Director – Azul Partners will be the primary speaker while John Yuva, Associate Editor, ISM will moderate the session.

Jason is regarded as one of the leading experts in the procurement and supply chain marketplace. He serves as Executive Editor of SpendMatters.com and is frequently cited by the business and trade press as well as the supply chain blogosphere for his analysis and opinion.

Through this webinar, Jason will be exploring the evolution of new sourcing and negotiation techniques. He will provide insights into how quickly individuals, organizations and even governments are beginning to embrace new types of negotiation technologies and philosophies into sourcing and why new “sourcing optimization” or “advanced sourcing” approaches are quickly gathering steam inside more advanced companies.

The sourcing process has evolved leaps & bounds over the years. Advanced practitioners are increasingly becoming comfortable with allowing greater supplier expressiveness or creativity when responding to RFPs and RFQs. Rather than locking suppliers into rigid specifications (e.g., material, lead-time, etc.) through sealed bidding or reverse auction approaches – either offline or online – the new sourcing models enable advanced practitioners to embrace and rely on a different line of thinking to maximize potential savings while reducing risk.

The key learnings from this webinar will include,

  • Understanding the need to adopt new sourcing philosophy within organizations
  • Dealing with different supply chain and category conditions with new sourcing tools
  • Impact of sourcing optimization tools on different categories in addition to transportation & packaging
  • How and when to apply constraints to award decisions (e.g., split of business, supplier diversity, etc.)
  • Developing an educational plan to leveraging the latest sourcing capabilitie
